About This Plant

  • Plant: Anthurium 'Blood Queen', velvety deep burgundy-red new leaves that age to a dark, rich maroon-green.
  • Origin: Cultivated hybrid

Plant Care

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct afternoon sun.
  • Water: Water when the top inch of mix is dry, never letting it sit soggy.
  • Soil: Chunky, airy aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite and a little peat or coco.
  • Humidity: Prefers 60–80% humidity.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F. Keep above 60°F.
  • Feeding: Feed monthly in the growing season with a balanced fertilizer at half strength.
  • Note: Cool, dry or low-light conditions slow growth and can dull the deep red color.

Care

Every plant has its own needs: light, water, soil, humidity, temperature and feeding. Not sure? Ask us. We want your plant to thrive as much as you do.

When it arrives, keep it in bright, indirect light, hold off on repotting and fertilizing for 1–2 weeks and water only if the soil is dry. Full guide on our Keeping the Flame page.
