About This Plant

  • Plant: Alocasia 'sp. Berau', a compact, rare Alocasia with deeply textured, dark green leaves and bold pale veining.
  • Origin: Cultivated selection

Plant Care

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid harsh direct sun that can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: Water when the top inch of the mix dries out, never letting it sit soggy.
  • Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite and a little coco coir.
  • Humidity: Prefers 60% humidity or higher, so a humidifier or enclosed cabinet helps.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F. Keep above 60°F.
  • Feeding: Feed monthly in the growing season with a balanced fertilizer at half strength.
  • Note: Alocasias may go dormant in cool or low-light conditions, so cut back watering and wait for new growth in spring.

Care

Every plant has its own needs: light, water, soil, humidity, temperature and feeding. Not sure? Ask us. We want your plant to thrive as much as you do.

When it arrives, keep it in bright, indirect light, hold off on repotting and fertilizing for 1–2 weeks and water only if the soil is dry. Full guide on our Keeping the Flame page.
